Abstract

The student with high skills/giftedness presents a high potential and involvement with some area of human knowledge that can be intellectual, academic, creative, social, special talent and psychomotor. The gifted, may present great potential in one of these areas and a poor performance in others. Believing that the student with high skills is good at everything, associating him to having a high IQ or believing that he should be psychologically well structured are prejudices that surround the subject. Bullying is revealed through violent actions against the same individual and in a constant way. The target of bullying suffers physical and psychological damage, which directly influences their school performance as well as their relationship with friends, family and the surrounding community, developing a sense of social exclusion. Those who suffer from bullying tend to develop the following aspects: school disinterest, low esteem, low immune resistance, stress, psychosomatic symptoms and psychological disorders. This project aims to analyze the interfaces between giftedness and bullying within the school context from the myths and prejudices around high skills. Identifying the myths surrounding students with high skills and seeing if prejudices are transformed into violence, the gifted can become a victim and/or aggressor. At the same time a debate will be made on the roots of bullying, in the sense of discovering the influence that the social context exerts on the aggressions inside the school. The study will be carried out through a bibliographical survey and qualitative research, carried out with the help of interviews recorded with students already identified as high skills/gifted and who attend the CEDET (Center for the Development of Potential and Talent), located in a municipality Of the interior of the state of São Paulo. The informants will be composed of twelve elementary students II, six girls and six boys. After completion of the research and its completion, the data should be socialized with the various segments that make up the CEDET space. (AU)
