Abstract

The influence of Primary Ovarian Insufficiency on body composition in young women, is not well understood. It is believed that hormone therapy is not sufficient to recover the body composition in young women. To assess body composition (fat and lean mass) of women with primary ovarian failure and compare it to women with normal ovarian function. Subject and methods: cross-sectional study to be conducted on endocrine gynecology outpatient clinic of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, State University of Campinas evaluate women with IOP in use of hormone replacement to establish your body composition. As a control healthy women matched for age will be studied (± 2years), BMI (± 2 kg / m2) and degree of physical activity intensity. After obtaining informed consent, all volunteers will undergo study of bone densitometry and body will be examined to measure skinfold by using caliper. The degree of physical activity will be achieved by appropriate questionnaire (IPAQ). Data from the two groups (study and control) will be presented as mean and standard deviation. They will be assessed for distribution normality and compared using appropriate statistical tests. The data on the percentage of lean mass and fat mass will be analyzed through correlation study compared the data age, age of gonadal failure, hormone therapy time, type of hormone therapy and other variables.
