Abstract

The research deals with the total syntheses of phosdiecin A, a polyketide isolated from from a culture of the marine Streptomyces sp. SS99BA-2 collected in São Sebastião Channel, Brazil. The interest to unravel the true identity of this molecule by total synthesis in collaboration with Prof. Krische from the University of Texas at Austin through catalytic asymmetric carbonyl addition methodologies developed by the Krische group, and to investigate the potential cytotoxic activity of these natural product, as well as of some intermediates and derivaitives to be prepared during this research, are the main reasons for presenting this proposal.
