Abstract

Art always had a fascination with the interflow of different senses. However, studies on multisensory perception and the perceptive modulations that can be triggered still have much to be investigated. The general objective of this project is to study the multisensoriality in art, especially the perceptives interferences triggered by works that use information from several senses at the same time. To achieve this purpose, we aim to do: a) a bibliographic research on theories of perception from the past and more recent studies on multisensory perception in cognitive sciences; b) a selection, analysis and contextualization of artistic works that trigger different types of sensorial modulations; c) a experimental work and d) a evaluation and critical positioning from the set of theoretical-practical results obtained. The hypothesis proposed is that by studying the cross-modal interactions and the possibilities of perceptual modulations between different senses it will be possible to identify and organize new possibilities of poetic creations and receptions of multisensorial artistic works created with new technologies.
