Articulation of care for children and adolescents drug users: a case study in a youth unit

Abstract

The literature points out that adolescence is a phase of greater vulnerability to drug use. Public policies aimed at protecting and caring for adolescents with problems related to drug use are recent in Brazil. In the last years, we have witnessed an increase in hospitalizations of drug users, especially young people. Child and Adolescent Units are modalities indicated by current legislation as care options for this population. However, there is a shortage of studies in these institutions. Thus, this project aims to understand how a Child and Adolescent Unit in the interior of São Paulo has articulated care to children and adolescents with needs arising from the use of drugs in situations of social and family vulnerability. More specifically, to know the strategies and actions of the service to offer a humanized reception, socialization of the users, actions aimed at integrating the family in the treatment, strategies for the social reintegration of users and articulations of the unit with the intersectoral network. To achieve these objectives, a qualitative case study will be carried out, using for data collection, focus groups with Caps ij professionals, semi-structured interviews with professionals from the Child and Youth Care Unit, participant observation and Field of the same, to produce information that allows to observe the treated theme under different vertices. Thematic analysis of the data will be performed. The project was forwarded to the Research Ethics Committee and will only begin after approval in this. With this research it is hoped to obtain more subsidies for the construction of public policies aimed at the care of adolescent drug users. (AU)
