Abstract

It will be analyzed through of a micro sensor the effect of wear-time of a dental bleaching product on the degrees of cooperation and patient satisfaction, on the effectiveness and occurrence of dental sensitivity, when submitted to 10% carbamide peroxide (Opalescence Ultradent Products, Inc., South Jordan, USA) application, for 21 consecutive days and daily application times of 2, 4 and 8 hours. It will be part of the clinical experiment 45 volunteers, both sexes, with ages ranging from 18 to 22 years and that have not been subjected to dental bleaching. To monitor the wear-time of the trays, they will contain a TheraMon microelectronic system (Sales AgencyGschladt, Hargelsberhg, Austria).TheraMon (TheraMon® micro electronic system; Sales AgencyGschladt, Hargelsberhg, Austria). Volunteers will receive information about the existence and purpose of wear-time monitoring of their trays with the microsensor. Three study groups will be formed with 15 volunteers each. The factor under study will be the wear-time in hours of the trays with the bleaching gel, in three levels (10% carbamide peroxide based bleaching gel applied for 2 (GI), 4 (GII) and 8 (GIII) hours per day), considering for analysis the central and lateral incisors and canine upper and lower teeth. The response variables for the clinical analysis will be the degree of daily cooperation of the patient, comparing the estimates of the wear-time of the dental bleaching product stipulated by the professional, with the wear-time by the patient microelectrically collected through the electronic micro sensor TheraMon®. The degree of satisfaction of the patient with dental bleaching will be analyzed by the visual analog method; the effectiveness of dental bleaching (dental color change) will be performed in the upper and lower incisors and canines, by the visual method (Vita Classical) and digital (Vita Easyshade) and dental sensitivity. The consultations to record the dental color, the presence of sensitivity will be performed in the initial time periods (baseline), after 7, 14 and 21 days of the beginning of bleaching; and 14 days after its completion, only for the observations of the patient's color, sensitivity and degree of satisfaction. The degree of daily cooperation of the patient will be obtained and analyzed at the end of the bleaching treatment. The associations between the wear-time of dental bleaching product and the response variables will be calculated and subjected to appropriate statistical treatment. After collection of the results, the relative frequency distribution (percentages) will be characterized through the Equality Test of Two Proportions. The need for a qualitative analysis of correlation between variables, chi-square test for independence and the correlation of the quantitative variables Pearson correlation will be employed. For the inferential analysis of means comparison between groups and / or subgroups, the ANOVA test with the possible utilization of the Tukey Multiple Comparison (Post Hoc) will be used. For the longitudinal analyzes, the ANOVA With Repeated Measures (for paired data) test will be used. (AU)
