Gastrotricha is a phylum of aquatic microinvertebrates commonly found in freshwater and marine environments around the world. Despite being abundant, this taxon is not very well known, possibly by its diminutive size and fragility of their bodies. The great majority of the gastrotrics present benthic lifestyle, whether associated with the sediment or the periphyton. The exception to this habit is seen in specimens of the family Dasydytidae, a group that contains rare organisms that developed the semi-planktonic lifestyle. Despite the fewphylogenetic studies, the most accepted hypothesis is that the taxon is monophyletic. However, the relations of relatives between the seven genera Dasydytidae, and their respective monophyly, have been practically never tested under a phylogenetic bias. Thus, the objective of the present study is to elucidate the phylogenetic relationship of the 32 Dasydytidae based on morphological data, besides testing the monophyly of the 7 genera.In addition, it is intended to carry out collections in new locations, to formally describe the Dasydytidae morphotype previously discovered (FAPESP Process Nº 2015 / 25066-0) and sequencing the mitochondrial genes COI and the ribosomal 18S and 28S of this new morphotype as well as the newly described species Haltydites pseudosquamatus Minowa & Garraffoni, 2017.
