Abstract

This research aims to make a critical analysis of the poem "The Lady of Shalott", by Alfred Tennyson (1809-1892), as well as to translate it to Portuguese. The main objective of this project is to recover and spread Tennyson's poetical work, of which much still lacks a Portuguese version, and to emphasize its sophistication, which great part of the Modern Criticism tended to belittle. Furthermore, we believe our translation of "The Lady of Shalott" to be the very first one to Portuguese. (AU)
