Abstract

The aim of any restorative procedure is to reestablish or maintain function, esthetics, phonetics and periodontal tissue's health. In dental fixed prosthesis, caries are still the main reason for biological failure, corresponding approximately to 32% of the cases, while periodontal disease takes 4% of the causes, the same for endodontic. The present study looks forward to state if patients in oral rehabilitation using antagonists of receptor AT1 for angiotensin II drugs, and if materials used through treatment for metalo ceramic crowns' confection could change qualitative and quantitatively the cytokines associated to gingival inflammation and bone metabolism in gingival sulcus. The sample will take 20 patients in need of premolar restorations with metalo ceramic crowns. Two groups will be divided (n=10): for test, patients will be taking anti-hypertensive drugs (angiotensin II receptor antagonists, such as losartan and telmisartan) and, the other group: control, patients with no use of these drugs. The parameters analyzed will be the quantitative and qualitative measures for gingival sulcus' cytokines in different steps such as - 1) after crown scaling, 2) 15 days after temporary crowns' installation, 3) 15 days and 4) 6 months after metalo ceramic crowns' cementation. It will also be noticed: pocket depth, clinical attachment loss, gingival recession, gingival index, plaque index and width of attached gingiva. Doses of the used mediators will be registered through mediums and standard deviation and normalized data will be verified with Kolmogorov-Smirnov method. All these analysis will be taken in contralateral premolars taken as positive control. For mean-time comparison in quantitative variance, paired "t" test will be used; for score variances measures, Wilcoxon signed-rank test will be taken. In all statistic tests, the 5% significance level will be taken (p<0,05 will indicate values as significant values). (AU)
