Abstract

A recent technique using a violet LED (405-410 nm) has been introduced as an alternative for the conventional bleaching treatment. This study aims to evaluate and compare the effects of different bleaching techniques on the dentin structure. Twenty blocks of human dentin (n=4) will be randomly divided in 5 groups, as follows: G1: no treatment (control group); G2: application of 35% hydrogen peroxide for 45 minutes; G3: irradiation with violet LED (405-410 nm) for 20 minutes; G4: violet LED irradiation for 20 minutes followed by the application of 35% hydrogen peroxide for 20 minutes and then the violet LED irradiation for 20 minutes (hybrid technique); G5: application of hydrogen peroxide 35% + violet LED irradiation for 20 minutes (at the same time). Zymography and in situ zymography techniques will be performed to determine Matrix Metalloproteinase and dentin protein content. Statistical analyses will be performed considering a significant level of 5%.
