The segment of wood-based panels has been gaining ground especially in the furniture and building industry since 2000's. Although the panel industry growth, innovations are necessary, always aiming to improve the final product in view of the market, become more and more competitive. Nowadays, it is verified that an alternative to improve the properties of the materials found for the most diverse segments is the use of nanotechnology. In this way it is possible to implement the industrial process through the use of nanoparticles, aiming to improve certain characteristics of the particleboards, providing a better performance of the physical-mechanical properties of the same. It is also worth noting that the study of materials seeks for products that are more sustainable and less polluting, that are less aggressive to man and the environment. This study aim to evaluate the influence of the zinc oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles addition in Medium Density Particleboards (MDP) produced with castor oil based polyurethane resin to verify the interference of the material added to the temperature of 90 °C. The results obtained will be compared with the Brazilian standard NBR 14810-2: 2013 and with the European standard EN 312: 2003, as well as works found in the literature. (AU)
