Abstract A set of television serial fiction derived from the police discursive matrix has been standing out today for instigating the on-demand reception beyond two hours, as measured by Netflix Media Center in 2016. Based on this assumption, this research project proposes to investigate the symbolic resignifications of suspense (or thriller) on Netflix platform. The discourse genre integrates the group mentioned and it is considered the primacy of hesitation, tension and foresight in the course of events. From the technique of suspending to the enunciation, which extended from literature to film and to television, suspense gained notoriety through mediation of rituality and of sociality (MARTÍN-BARBERO, 2002). As hypothesis, Netflix arose from the mediatization (HJARVARD, 2014) of the audiovisual content distribution. This work argues that suspense has elements that motivate and prolong this asynchronous reception. In the methodological protocol, the typology of the police narrative proposed by Tzvetan Todorov is used and the discussions on gender of the speech of Mikhail Bakhtin are followed. (AU) | |
