Abstract

In this project, we intend to study the synthesis of III-V semiconductor nanowires, with the overall goal of their application in biological physics studies. In particular, we intend to explore the growth of (In)GaP nanowires, studying the transition between dominant crystallographic phases (cubic and hexagonal) to create structures with emission in the visible spectral range. The inclusion of quantum dots along the nanowire axis will be investigated in order to obtain efficient luminescence in the visible spectral region. Using these results, nanowire arrays with different geometries will be processed to work as a tool for bacterial cell adhesion and motility studies. We thus expect to expand the tools available to biosystems studies currently developed at LNB/IFGW.
