Abstract

Resin-modified glass ionomer cement (MRGIC) has unique properties, such as dental structure adhesion and remineralization. However, like other restorative materials, it has limitations. Recently, the incorporation of nanoparticles (NP) to the IVC, resulted in improvements of some of its properties. The method of this embodiment, however, is essential, because the properties of the material also depend on the distribution of the NP in its interior. The objective of this work is to evaluate different techniques of incorporation of NP of hydroxyapatite (NPHAp) in different concentrations to a CIVMR, and porosity. the formation of clusters and cytotoxicity. The Vitremer RMGIC will be used, with three incorporation techniques: manual, amalgamator and vortex. For all the tests will be established four groups C- (Control- RMGIC), G1- (RMGIC + 2,0% NPHAp); G2- (RMGIC + 5.0% NPHAp) and G3 (RMGIC + 10.0% NPHAp). The porosity will be analyzed using Image software and the formation of NPHAp agglomerates will be evaluated qualitatively by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). For the cytotoxicity test, the viability analysis of MDPC-23 odontoblast cells will be performed, by means of the MTT test and the cell morphology analysis in SEM. The data will be analyzed by ANOVA at a fixed criterion, followed by the Tukey post-test. If there is no normality, the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests will be used. For all tests the significance level will be 5%. The analysis of the cellular morphology will be descriptive only.
