Abstract

This project focuses on a specific area of experimental music that we shall call non-ficcional music, borrowing the expression from its use in Jennie Gottschalk s 2016 book Experimental Music Since 1970. For the delimitation of our object, we shall develop an analogy with the opposition between fiction and documentary in cinema. Inside this sub-area of experimental music, we wish to understand in which ways listening becomes a creative act, able to reorganize and attribute new meanings to environmental sounds in different contexts, placing the listeners as the central agents of musical creation.
