By inserting the logic of mediatized societies into the study of media, deliberation and the public sphere, the cultural question becomes an important element of analysis. The forms of mediatization occur in different ways in each cultural context, since the relation of a society to its media, to politics and to itself is structured in different ways in space and time. Thus, the way in which discursive signification occurs in the public sphere and in the deliberative process, from the appropriation of information and mediatic contexts, from exchanges of reasons between individuals, and the interaction that contributes to the formation of public opinion is also subject to such cultural relations. Therefore, we propose to hold one of the discussion groups already foreseen in the original project to be carried out in a cultural context different from Brazil. In this way, we believe to bring important contributions to the research project and a more complete panorama of the relations between media, public sphere and deliberation in mediatized societies.
