Abstract

This project aims to continue the studies that have been developed by the research group of the Laboratory of Computational Analysis in Electric Power Systems (LACOSEP), of the Sao Carlos School of Engineering - University of Sao Paulo (EESC/USP), related to service restoration problem in large scale Distribution Systems (DSs) (those with thousands of lines, load buses and switches). As the service restoration problem is a combinatorial problem, with multiple objectives and constraints, those studies make use of Multi-Objective Evolutionary Algorithms (MOEAs) and the graph encoding called Node-Depth Encoding to computationally represent the electrical topology of the DSs. The last results obtained by the research group of LACOSEP give origin to a method that allows the analysis of large scale DSs without requiring any simplification in the computer representation of the network considering several practical characteristics of the problem (the existence of priority consumers, voltage regulators, capacitor banks and the operational characteristics of several kinds of switchers, determination of the switching sequence, among others). However, it was verified the possibility to improve the efficiency of this method via the inclusion of procedures to: (i) increase the possibility of obtaining restoration plans that do not require temporary turn-off of loads that were not affected by the isolation of the faulted areas; and (ii) perform selective load shedding when necessary. Therefore, the main objective of this project is to develop and implement a method, for solving the service restoration problem, adding those procedures to the method already developed by the LACOSEP research group. To validate the proposed method computational simulations will be executed with real large scale DSs. (AU)
