Abstract This research project deals with the development of a mathematical model as well as the application of a Variable Neighborhood Search metaheuristic for the solution of the multistage expansion planning of power distribution systems considering reliability. Expansion of new substations, reinforcement of existing ones, addition and reconductoring of feeders, and switch allocation are considered in the formulation of this problem. The objective is to find a solution (meshed topology) that minimizes expansion costs, as well as the radial topologies for operation in predefined contingency scenarios that minimize load shedding and maximize reliability indexes. Tests using small and medium-sized systems will be carried out with the mathematical model, while the metaheuristic will be applied to large and complex systems. (AU) | |
