Abstract

This research project considers the theoretical analysis and computational implementation of two optimization techniques, ie, meta-heuristic and mathematical model, which is solved by a commercial solver applied to the problem of expansion planning of power distribution systems. In the formulation of the problem of expansion planning of distribution systems, we intend to consider the expansion of new substations, reinforcement of existing substations, adding new feeders in new ways, changing existing feeders, and exchange of existing feeders. In a final step, should perform an initial discussion of the problem of reliability in the expansion distribution system. To solve this kind of model, we intend to develop two forms of optimization and resolution, ie, a meta-heuristic called on variable neighborhood search (VNS) and an exact mathematical formulation that is solved by a commercial solver for high performance. With the optimization techniques, we intend to test electrical systems of high complexity. (AU)
