Abstract

This project proposes a study of international cooperation, based on the Internship Research Program (BEPE), linked to the research project developed with the assistance of FAPESP (nº 2017/10302-5) regarding the postgraduate degree in Architecture and Urbanism (UNESP). We propose the study of the French railway treatises produced in the nineteenth century as a means of identifying the French practices imported by Brazil railway lines. With the help of Professor Karen Bowie, a professor at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture in Paris-La Villette and director of the research team "Architecture Histoire Techniques Territoires Patrimoines", we will meet one of our master's goals. We aim to understand the questions about the French railway treatises in order to clarify, even partially, the technical knowledge and the projects that may have been imported to Brazil. In the first stage, a bibliographical survey will be carried out on the French railway treatises, then with the help of Professor Karen Bowie, we will raise the scientific production on the treatises and also the identification of the authors of treatises through biographies. These consultations should take place in several French collections such as the Bibliothèque Nationale de France and the Center Nationale des Archives Historiques of the Société Nationale des Chemins de fer Français. Technical visits are also planned for some of the railways mentioned in the French treatises that are in French territory, as compared to our research object of the master's degree. Under the guidance of the teacher, we can understand the projects of railway buildings and their importance in the French national scope. (AU)
