Abstract

The Workshops of Companhia Paulista in Jundiaí played an important role in the Brazilian railway era, and had employed more than 500 workers. This functional space had been designed specially to meet the great demand and it was modified over the years with the same purpose. Considering the study of typologies a tool of understanding the past in a wide way, the present research project intends to investigate the plant's type of Companhia Paulista's workshop in Jundiaí city in order to understand this functional space. The specific objectives are: to analyze differences and similarities between the design of Jundiaí railway workshop's plant and another industrial plant of the company that developed it; to investigate whether it followed a treaty; Investigate if there are divergences between the original project and the implanted project; What is the relation of architecture and technology of the space and also to point out differences and similarities between the current workshop and the others of the same time. The methodological procedure should be qualitative and exploratory, using bibliographical and documentary research as data collection. In the research's end, is expected to obtain a relation of the typological influences that came with the final building in 1896. (AU)
