Abstract

This project aims to understand the training process and the performance of Impact Funds in Portugal as a new organizational field, as well as to analyze how this action compares to the performance of Impact Funds in Brazil. The data should be collected through interviews and focus groups conducted with managers and beneficiaries of impact funds in Portugal. The theoretical basis for the study will be the Theory of Fields (FLIGSTEIN, 2009; FLIGSTEIN and MCADAM, 2012) and the metatheory of Institutional Logic (THORNTON, P.H.; OCASIO, W, LOUNSBURY, 2012). The study should be conducted during the stay of this researcher at the University of Lisbon. As a basis for comparison, two studies developed by this researcher in Brazil will be used: data from a study that investigated the performance of three impact funds in Brazil, presented at the 6th Latin American and European Meeting on Organization Studies under the heading 'Investing impact funds in Latin America - an industry in construction' and also a project-originated that should be finalized by June 2018, which objective is to understand the process of training and action of impact funds in Brazil as a new organizational field. The comparison between the two experiences will allow the identification of differences in relation to the performance of relevant actors in the field, their roles, power relations, their intervention in the strategy and the processes adopted by the impact funds. The results obtained will contribute to the creation of new strategies, processes and public policies in the area. As it is a field in formation and lacking academic research, besides the practical contribution already mentioned, the research will also offer theoretical contributions. (AU)
