Abstract Brazil is one of the major producer of sugarcane with an area of 9.5 millions of hectares planted which represents 1% of total Brazilian territory. This sector relies on initial stages of development, and demonstrates your importance in the market manufacturing 35.48 millions tons of sugar and 26.18 billions liters of ethanol including 25.482 energy generation (GWh). However, 190 millions of hectares of natural parture undergoes low productivity with enormous potential to sugarcane culture implementation. Nowadays sugarcane is cultivated using vegetative propagation. Low budding rates around 80% is an enormous concern between producers. Beside that, we noticed that energy cane - a sugarcane variety which is characterized as better rooting and biomass production, as well as lower sucrose broth rates - overcomes this problem displaying a faster budding rate, lowest failure level and quick development, which is necessary for itself-establishment in the fields. Based on this observation, this project aims to study the molecular bases of budding from comparing the process among sugarcane variety and energy cane. Molecular parameters (rest on transcriptome analysis), metabolic and physiological process will be considered. Maturers also will be regard in the analysis, which is know to influence budding process. The propers results of this project will increase the knowledge on sugarcane production and also, shed light for improvement in budding rate affecting the sugarcane industry. (AU) | |
