Abstract

This interdisciplinary project aims to analyze narratives around the theme of "gender identity" through the testimonies of university students who identify with this issue. Thus, we seek to examine the knowledge, conceptions and ways of dealing with the theme by those who experience it daily, inside and outside the university. The corpus of analysis is composed of consensual statements that elaborate, through questions, reflections on their situation in the world and their past experiences, with emphasis on issues such as self identity, sexual discoveries, family and loving relationships and prejudices suffered on account of their situation. The theoretical point of departure is based on the works of authors from several areas that dealt with the issue, such as Freud, Foucault and Butler, among others. The speeches will be examined through the discursive French line semiotics, methodological basis of the project. Thus, the objective is to identify the values that guide the discourses of the deponents, the organization of their narratives and the most recurrent themes and figures, as well as the passion organizations. With the analyzes, we hope to obtain elements to contribute to the debates about gender identity in the context of contemporary Brazilian society.
