Abstract

Introduction: Physical activity is a well-recognized protection factor for chronic diseases as well as disability-adjusted life-years worldwide. However, the prevalence of physical inactivity is high, even during adolescence and physical activity tends to reduce from childhood/adolescence to adulthood. Also, socioeconomic patterns as well as early employment status can also influence physical activity patterns maintenance. In this sense, to identify the maintenance of different physical activity domains and the role of socioeconomic patterns should support possible interventions. Furthermore, it still not clear how different patterns of adolescent physical activity behavior (e.g. volume, types of activity) are associated with future health indicators such as adiposity and mental health. Objective: To analyze lifestyle behaviors including physical activity and sedentary behavior and health indicators throughout adolescence and emerging adulthood, using the 1970 British birth cohort. These analyses will support the development of longitudinal analyses that will help both the master's degree project as well as the research group from Brazil. (AU)
