Abstract

Written during the period of Hegel in Iena and published in 1807, the Phenomenology of the Spirit sought to understand, in the wake of the philosophy of the preceding subject, Descartes to Kantian philosophy, as the foundation of knowledge occurs from the moment the principle of subjectivity is considered the basis of any and all philosophy. In order to achieve such a response, Hegel used a conceptual apparatus that left marks in contemporary times, from central concepts such as "desire" and "recognition", among others. He developed a theory of the subject thought from the modes of individuation founded on an eminently social instance, the Spirit, which took philosophy beyond the chimera of a solipsistic individuality, seeking the points of contact between subjectivity and social determination. The present project will seek to articulate the Hegelian relation between subject, identity, recognition and social experience, in order to understand how the subjectivation process of modernity ends up producing subjects immersed in affirmations of autonomy and self identity. It is a question of deepening the commentary of certain passages of the Phenomenology of the Spirit, seeking, when relevant, to relate its consequences and developments to the work of other authors, especially those related to critical theory, psychoanalysis and contemporary French philosophy. We must also bear in mind that the debate on recognition, a privileged element in the contemporary way of seeing social conflicts, is inseparable from a recovery of the history of philosophy; therefore, too, to return to Hegel is, in fact, central.
