Abstract The science fiction is a movie genre that, by definition, deals with questions related to otherness and its correlation with social markers. Taking that into account, this project has a double intention. First, to historicize science fiction's representations since the beginning of blockbuster era, willing to understand its themes, narrative structures and schemes. On the other hand, comprehend the way reception perceives, retrospectively and contemporaneously, this genre and how it is now mobilized around the concept of representativity and diversity, having a major influence in Hollywood and thereafter science fiction.
