The use of ludic, play and toy are recommended for practical assistance in pediatric units. But, its incorporation into Brazilian realities is still insufficient. In this direction, the objective of the study is to describe the aspects that promote and inhibit the use of ludic and play by the nursing team of a pediatric unit and the possibilities to transform this use. It is a qualitative study supported by convergent care research. It will be developed with the nursing team of a pediatric unit. It is structured in permanent education, aiming to promote critical reflection of the reality experienced in terms of the presence of play and ludic. The contributions are related to changes in professional practice.
