Abstract

This work aims to verify the insubordination trajectory (EVANS, 2007) of insubordinate conditional constructions with if in Portuguese and to attest the language change through the centuries, exploring the use motivations of speakers (DEUTSCHER, 2014). The insubordinate constructions present some subordinate marks, but work unlinked of a main clause. Although these constructions are frequently used, they have not been fully described. Thus, it is expected to attest the constitution process of these constructions on a diachronic perspective in Portuguese, which has not been adopted yet in this language. For this, historical occurrences will be extracted from a corpus from the 1500s to the 2000s and will be described and analyzed based on previous works (GRAS, 2011; VAN LINDEN E VAN DE VELDE, 2013; D'HERTEFELT E VERSTRAETE, 2013; SANSIÑENA, 2015) and resources of Construction Grammar. It is expected that the accomplishment of the research internship abroad will be very productive for the results of this work, once it will be supervised by Prof. Dr. Renata Enghels, specialist in Contrastive Linguistics, especially in romance languages, and Construction Grammar, in Ghent University, Belgium. The results obtained in this research will serve as reference not only for the treatment of insubordinate constructions in Portuguese, but also for other descriptive works about the phenomenon of insubordination, once the collected data will be discussed with specialists of the subject. It is intended to take this work to study groups and present, congresses and lectures, so that it can be discussed and evaluated. (AU)
