Abstract

Introduction: The Tailored Activity Program is a non-pharmacological intervention specific of occupational therapy area, which brings promising results in reducing behavioral symptoms of dementia in elderly people. The TAP develops from eight sessions delivery by home for a period from 3 up to 4 months. There is no available an outpatient clinic application proposition of the method, which justifies to perform this study. Objectives: To propose an outpatient clinic version and evaluate the applicability of the program in this condition and its effects on the elderly people with dementia and their caregivers family members. Material sand Methods: The TAP will be adapted to an outpatient version and applied in a pilot study (n= 5 dyads of elderly people and their caregivers) to evaluate the applicability and effects of the program on the elderly people with dementia and their caregivers. The study will be developed in the dementia care service of the campus Baixada Santista of Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP). Descriptive and comparative analyzes will be performed in bothered and post intervention and the size of the intervention effect.
