Abstract Mark Antony was an important Roman politician at the end of the Republic. While alive, he received criticism from opponents and esteem of supporters. After his death, remember his life became delicate, either by the process of damnatio memoriae that suffered, or by de close connection that his military defeat in Actium had with the legitimation of the Principate and of the imperial power and with the speech of the winner, or by his heirs integrate the domus Augusta and his older partisans being members of Roman society. However, the memories about him remained alive, even in a clandestine mode, until being officially rehabilitated during the Principate.
