Abstract

Considering that the production of knowledge by means of more democratic and participatory strategies is in line with what is advocated in the process of attention and promotion of the mental health of children and adolescents, since it favors the processes of citizenship and social participation, taking into account also that investigations that may favor the dialogue between children's mental health and school context, through participatory processes can support reflections that lead to actions that actually protect children and adolescents, the present study has the objective of to understand, together with children aged 8 to 10 years about their perceptions regarding the factors present in the context of a school counter-institution that favor their own mental health. Participants will be a group of no more than 30 children, linked to a school counter-institution located in a medium-sized city in the interior of the State of São Paulo, with the purpose of exploring the focus theme through procedures to be defined with the participating children themselves, collectively, in the research process. The products generated from the data production procedure will be analyzed with the children participating in the study and, later, to produce the final report of the present research, the results obtained in the study will be discussed through a theoretical articulation between child and juvenile mental health participatory research with children. In general, it is expected that the results of the research contribute to the advancement of the knowledge produced on inclusive research and participatory methodologies, focusing on children, mental health and the context of school counter-shift.
