Abstract

Dental whitening is considered a technique of easy execution and great effectiveness, being indicated in cases that the chromatic alteration originates mainly in the dentinal tissue. The satisfactory result depends directly on the diffusion flux of the whitening gel, which meets the Second Law of Fick. Regarding the area of application of the product, there are only some clinical reports that point to a polydirectional action of the peroxides, which could act in distant spots of the regions that received the product. Although it is a simple and very accomplished technique in the dental clinic the presence of ROS in the dental structure is related to a pulp response that can vary from soft to tissue necrosis. This reaction is possibly related to the great occurrence of trans or postoperative sensitivity in patients undergoing office treatment. The aim of this research is to evaluate clinically the chromatic alteration that occurred in different regions of the crown and the reported postoperative sensitivity, in patients undergoing in-office bleaching treatment. The methodology consists in the application of bleaching gel in 3 levels, being in the cervical, incisal and the entire vestibular surface for the area study and 0.03g, 0.06g and 0.12g for the volume study. Patients will receive treatment with 35% Hydrogen Peroxide without any source of physical activation in the upper arch. The color reading will be performed through the Easyshade digital spectrophotometer and the sensitivity will be measured using an applied questionnaire and the patient's report. (AU)
