Abstract

The aim of the study will be to evaluate the acute effects of an aerobic exercise session with an intensity imposed (II) and with a self-selected intensity (SSI) on pleasure sensations and autonomic regulation and cardiovascular function in patients with PD. Twenty patients with PD (e 50 years old, 1-3 stage of Hohen Yahr) will be randomly assigned to an aerobic exercise session with an intensity imposed (II, cycle ergometer, 25 min, 60-70% maximum heart rate, 50-60 rpm), a session with a self-selected intensity (SI, cycle ergometer, 25 min, 50-60 rpm) and a control session (C, without exercise). Before and after the sessions, the heart rate (Polar V800 monitor), arterial and central blood pressure (auscultatory method and pulse wave velocity, respectively), cardiac autonomic modulation (heart rate variability) and arterial stiffness were evaluated (pulse wave velocity). In addition, heart rate (Polar V800 monitor), arterial blood pressure (auscultatory method), ratings of perceived exertion (Borg scale 6-20) and affective responses (feeling scale) will also be evaluated during exercise. Data will be analyzed by two-way ANOVA for repeated measures. Newman-Keul's post-hoc test will be employed when necessary. P<0.05 will be accepted as statistically significant. The data will be presented as means±SD.
