Abstract

The ultrasonic test has been an efficient alternative of assessing quality and identifying defects in different materials without modifying their shape or properties. This test makes it possible to predict possible structural failures in reinforced concrete structures, due to the presence of endogenous or exogenous pathologies. The ultrasonic tomography results of the transforming the data obtained in the ultrasonic tests into representative images of the interior of the constructive element. However, in most cases these defects or pathologies present in the structural elements are not well represented by the images. The aim of this work is to study the method of ultrasonic tomography applied to the detection of voids in concrete, including the use of data interpolation techniques in order to improve the quality of the images obtained by ultrasonic tomography. The digital images will be generated from the ultrasonic tests that will be performed on different specimens using the data of the ultrasonic pulses from the propagation velocity. As a result, it is expected to determine the best conditions for carrying out the tests, to obtain satisfactory images for better analyzes and thereby to confirm the effectiveness of the technique.
