Abstract

Objective: to detect and to quantify colonizing bacteria of the gingival sulcus in the teeth restored with thin ceramic veneers, with 0.2mm thickness at the cervical border, and cemented on teeth without finish line and cervical border of restoration placed within the gingival sulcus. Materials and Methods: 72 ceramic veneers in lithium dissilicate with 0.2 mm thick at the cervical area, will be cemented onto maxillary anterior teeth without finish line. For all treated and controls teeth, crevicular gingival fluid (GCF) will be collected prior to restoration cementation (baseline) and at future times (t): t0 - 7 days, t1 - 15 days, t2 - 30 days , t3 - 60 days and t4 - 180 days, in which the bacteria A. naeslundii, F. nucleatum and T. forsythia will be detected and quantified through real-time PCR. Results: after tabulation of the data, the assumptions of normality and homogeneity will be verified, considering the application of ANOVA test. If assumptions are not met, non-parametric tests will be performed. The significance level considered for difference between averages will be 5%.
