Abstract

In this project, we will investigate classical concepts in scientific computing, as for instance, the data fitting via linear regression, function and derivative approximations and optimization. Initially, the student will analyses the construction of the numerical methods and will implement computational codes for solving the problems such as data approximation and optimization. After this, the student will begin a new study concerning the adaptations and new implementations for solving the classical problems in the context of the machine learning techniques.
