Abstract

Soils with lower or higher iron concentrations show lots of problems for crop cultivation. Higher iron concentrations associated with waterlogging makes this mineral phytotoxic to the plant. Another harmful factor is the filling of the soil porous spaces by water, restricting the supply of O2 to the root and its nodules. Given that, this work aims to evaluate the soybean varieties agronomic and physiological traits in order to investigate the behavior of the crop under increasing soil iron concentrations and under ideal water conditions and waterlogging. The experiment will be carried out in a greenhouse, in the Experimental Area of the Faculdade de Ciências Agrárias e Tecnológicas - UNESP, Campus of Dracena, SP. It will considered a completely randomized design with three replicates. Treatments will be organized in factorial scheme 3x3x6; three (03) soil iron concentration levels (0, 50, 500 mg/kg); three (03) waterlogging levels (0, 50 and 100%); and six (06) soybean varieties (Potência, Agroeste 3730, Agroeste AS 3797, Agroeste AS 38200, Pionner 95R51 and Dow AgroSciences 5G8015IPRO). The evaluations will be carried out during the phenological stages V2, R1, R3 and R5, most susceptible to the waterlogging condition. Plants will be kept under waterlogging conditions for a period of 8 days. The following parameters will be evaluated: nutritional status; photosynthetic pigments; ureides content, nitrate and ammonia; glutamine synthetase and allantoinase enzyme activity; sugar total content, sucrose and starch concentration; hydrogen peroxide content and MDA. Also, will be evaluated agronomic traits: plant height, first pod insertion height, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, weight of 100 seed, number of stems, seed yield, shoot and root dry matter and number of nodules per plant.
