Abstract

Harmful use of alcohol is associated with adverse health and socioeconomic impacts on the individual and society at large. With the rapid access to the population and age-related living conditions, alcohol consumption in older people increased, and were later directed towards coping with this problem. Objective: to pay for the effectiveness of the intervention for the consumption of alcohol risk in people aged 55 years or more in primary care. Method: A randomized controlled clinical trial, aged over 55 years, enrolled in the UBS of the Altos de Santana neighborhood. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of group work interventions in 2 groups: Group 1 (step care) and Group 2 (step care). Step-by-step care is three different functions that are offered in a step-by-step manner (1. Booklet + Feedback, 2. Motivational interview, 3. referral to specialized service). The study consisted of three evaluation phases, in the triage (T0), in the baseline (T1), and in a six-month follow-up event (T2). Instruments: Demographic data; General health questionnaire; Alcohol Use Disorders Identification Test (AUDIT); Cognitive Scale (ADAS-cog); Quality of life questionnaire (WHOQol-bref); Depression scale (GDS); Disability Scale (WHODAS 2.0). Search Results: From a stepwise intervention with the exercise of life change, reduce alcohol consumption and improve health indicators in older people with 55 years or more of basic use.
