Abstract

Problems related to alcohol consumption stand out internationally as public health priorities. This is an old issue which, despite scientific advances, still involves many challenges, such as risks among young people, detection and early intervention, stigma, relapse prevention, treatment and the network of multidisciplinary care. In recent decades, significant advances in information technology, new models of education gained prominence, as well as approaches to health promotion and well-being, harm reduction and actions for family and community context. This thematic project aims to develop, adapt and evaluate innovative interventions targeted to some of the most challenging problems related to alcohol consumption. This will be achieved through experience and networking among national and international researchers with a solid technical and scientific trajectory in the area. Methods: The approaches proposed in this project were chosen from the scientific literature and theoretical assumptions valued in our culture. Interventions will be developed or adapted by means of qualitative techniques of data collection and content analysis. The effectiveness assessments will be carried out through randomized controlled trials, with inferential statistical analysis. We are also planning technical and scientific meetings, to discuss the results and potential practical applications. As a result of the project, we expect the expansion of the range of interventions evaluated for our reality and the strengthening of research and education network in the area. (AU)
