Abstract

This project has the purpose of proposing a retranslation in the form of a commented translation of three short stories of the contemporary author Philippe Delerm's book, La première gorgée de bière et autres plaisirs (1997): "Dans un vieux train", "Le dimanche soir" and " Le cinéma". Considering the whole work is surrounded by cultural markers and marks which are essential for the sharing of experiences and sensations between the author of the original and the reader of the translation, it aims to produce a commented translation that can aid in the aforementioned sharing. The comments produced will be used to analyze cultural conflicts and to reflect on the translation process itself and its challenges.
