Abstract

Starting from the guiding reflections of the Young Researcher's research line "O ensino da fé cristã na Península Ibérica" (Processo 2017 / 11111-9)", the scientific initiation scholarship will seek to analyze the missionary action of D. Lope de Barrientos (1382- 1469), a celebrated Castilian bishop, who stood out for combating heretical practices and promoting the basic formation of the faithful. In examining two treaties of this prelate, the Synod Book - compiled from a work of the same name written by the bishop of Leon, D. Gonzalo de Alba - and the book El tractado de la divinança, authored by D. Lope de Barrientos himself, the student should examine to what extent this ecclesiastical authority helped to root the pastoral policy of the Hispanic Church in the 15th century.
