Abstract

Tissue engineering has been making significant improvements regarding the search for novel therapeutic alternatives, using different biological materials (cells and tissues) associated with three-dimensional matrices, aiming to engineer organs and human tissues that were absent or lost in consequence of diseases or accidents. The main focus of this project is the development of "in vitro" models for the evaluation of radiopharmaceuticals developed in IPEN, pharmaceuticals and nanoparticles. Consequently the organization, cataloging and the correct storage of these isolated cells and the proof of compatible niche for the differentiation of the mesenchymal cells aiming their use as structural models for "in vitro" assays. The storing conditions, as well as its protocols, will have to focus on stability and safety of the biological material so that it can be utilized whenever it is necessary for the assessments and experiments. Another important point in this project is the standardization of the researches to the new international laws regarding the diminishment of the number of experimental animals and their substitution by equivalent tests. We must also comply with the national and international regulatory requirements of ANVISA, INMETRO, International Atomic Energy Agency, FDA, European Community, among others.
