Abstract

Throughout the last fifty-four years the peripheral settlement called Jardim Ibirapuera, situated in the South Zone of the metropolis of São Paulo and investigated in our dissertation (2012) and PhD (2018) shows remarkable transformations in its reproduction as a territoriality within São Paulo. Over these five decades the outskirt itself, its dwellers, the social relations that has been raised and reproduced over there, as well as the articulations between those territories and the national and international scales, have been subjected to academic researches. With this post-doctoral project we aim to investigate the acknowledged transformations on the theoretical trajectory of sociologists connected to the Brazilian critical tradition which have dedicated themselves to the debate about the conditions of the workers and the outskirts in order to achieve the meaning of the break represented by the adhesion to Michel Foucault by contemporary researchers in order to grasp the transformations observed in the way of life of the peripheral population (social) as well as the politics (politics), mainly aiming to articulate such transformations to the contradictory unfolding of the accumulation of capital (economy) and its crisis.
