Abstract

The main goal of this project is the study of excited state carrier dynamics, especially multi-exciton interactions, in colloidal quantum dots, through Multidimensional Coherent Spectroscopy (MDCS). MDCS is capable of differentiate homogeneous from inhomogeneous spectral features. This is very valuable for resolving the muti-body spectral signatures, e.g. phonon couplings of quantum dots, that inheritably have large inhomogeneous spectral broadening due to particle size distribution. The samples will be studied at liquid helium temperatures and put in the excited states by the means of a pre-pulse train that will irradiate the sample in parallel with the other four pulses normally present in MDCS. The instrumentation effort involved in the assembly of the whole setup from scratch will result in the assembly of the first MDCS setup in Latin America. (AU)
