Abstract

Every year, episodes of natural disasters cause damage in communities all over the world. In Brazil, those disasters mainly occur due to events related to external dynamics of Earth. These phenomena tend to intensify with global warming, as suggested by IPCC (2018), since one of the consequences of this warming is the increment of the incidence of extreme climate events. For this reason, the UN (United Nations Organization) established the 17 Objectives for Sustainable Development (OSD) in 2015. For this research, goal No. 11 (making human cities and settlements sustainable, resilient and safe) is highlighted and it intend to investigate a model for determining areas of disaster danger to minimize, and even avoid, the damage caused by these events. The research aims to spatialize the danger of occurrence of geotechnical and hydrologic natural disasters to the administrative regions of Registro and Santos, areas of São Paulo State that have high rates of events of this nature, using open data, which will facilitate the approach to better public politicals by cities with smaller infrastructure.
