Abstract

The growing demand for aesthetic procedures nowadays, specifically tooth whitening, results in the search for new technologies, aiming at achieving better results with the least possible adverse effect. Among the various mechanisms for this purpose is the violet LED light, but there are still few studies that have evaluated its effects on the dental structure. Thus, the objective of the present work will be to analyze the microhardness of the dental enamel whitening with violet LED light, associated or not with high concentration whitening gels, besides quantifying the presence of minerals(calcium and phosphorus) in the dental structure, through the analysis of Dispersive Energy by Spectrometry (EDS). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis will also be performed to evaluate the surface morphology of specimens. The assay will have 84bovine incisors that do not present any enamel alteration, which could modify the results.T he elements will be sectioned in fractions and divided into 4 groups according to thew hitening technique used: GI - violet LED light; GII - hydrogen peroxide 35%; GIII -hydrogen peroxide 35% + violet LED light; GIV - no whitening. The application of the gel and the violet LED light will be performed in 3 applications, being one per week, with7 days interval between them. The response variables will be: 1. enamel microhardness analysis, evaluated by a microdurometer (n=12); 2. Spectrometric Dispersive Energy Analysis (EDS) (n=6); 3. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) analysis (n=3). The datawill be submitted to appropriate statistical tests for each type of analysis. (AU)
