Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a disease characterized by hyperglycemia; its cause is the autoimmune pancreas ² cells, thus generating a deficiency in insulin secretion. One of the main themes in the literature is streptozotocin induction (STZ), which seeks to promote pancreatic ² cells. In order to study DM treatment, a photobiomodulation (PBM) can provide a promising therapeutic strategy due to a process of cell regeneration and proliferation, promoting the survival of ² cells. Thus, the aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of insulin tolerance and glucose on an experimental diabetes model in diabetic rats. For this, 16 male Wistar rats will be anesthetized and induced DM1 by a dose of 60 mg/kg STZ in the penile vein. After 15 days, the animals' blood glucose will be confirmed by DM1. The groups were randomly distributed into two groups (n = 8): Diabetic Control Group (GC) and Diabetic Group treated with PBM 30 J/cm² (L30), during 4 weeks, 3 times a week. After the last day of irradiation, a glucose and insulin tolerance will be evaluated. Immediately after euthanasia, the pancreas will be surgically dissected for histological processing (HE), for histopathological and morphometric analysis of pancreatic islets and e analysis of the anti-insulin and 8-OhdG proteins. In addition, will be evaluated the Aconitase protein expression by Western Blot. For statistical analysis will be used ANOVA. (AU)
