Abstract Several initiatives have recently deployed digital technologies to reconstruct historical objects and collections. Those initiatives run the broad spectrum between asking for public collaboration to gather registers of lost collections, as in Projeto Resgate, run by Museu Nacional do Rio de Janeiro, to using 3D-priting technology to replicate archaeological vestiges, as in the projects dedicated to the Middle East. At other occasions, those technologies provide key investigative pieces on controversial events, such as the Grenfell Tower fire in June 2017. In all of these cases, what unites them is the deployment of technological procedures in order to construct evidences regarding historical events and or contexts, leading to the technological construction of historical vestiges. This research project seeks to inquire the consequences of these procedures, techniques, projects and initiatives to historical practice and the discussion about the nature of historical evidence. It also seeks to highlight its intersections with the archival practice, heritage and memory claims in the modern world. (AU) | |
