Abstract

Oral breathing causes changes in the stomatognatic system and that may induce vocal disorders in children. According to studies that show the existence of a correlation between oral breathing and dysphonia in children, it is necessary to further develop research that associate both aspects, considering that OB may have different origins, each with its own analysis method. Objectives: Evaluate vocal characteristics of children of age ranging from 3 to 12 years old with amygdala and adenoid hypertrophy that have been submitted to adenotonsillectomy recently, relate the data from the CG with the SG and also look for variations in different ages. Methods: The study will be developed at the Center for Studies and Research in Rehabilitation Prof. Dr. Gabriel Porto (CEPRE) linked to the Department of Human Development and Rehabilitation of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the State University of Campinas (FCM / UNICAMP). A study group will be made subdivided into three groups by age and the control group subdivided in the same way. Analysis tools will be used: anamnesis, CAPE-V protocol, GIRBAS protocol and Praat software. (AU)
